On June 2019 we were invited by our colleagues from Montefiore dell'Asso (Italy) to partecipate from their yearly celebration of the Corpus Christi. There we built an outstanding mixed-technique carpet with the theme the parabel of Jesus feeding the poor, using plenty of different materials. We had the change to share a unique experience with our alfombristas friends, and we could learn more not only of their artistic background but also of their tradition and their perspective of ephemeral art.
After 11 hours of work, a sleepless night and just us 3, we built a 3x8 m carpet using a variety of materials going from coloured salt to coloured sawdust; dried and fresh flower petals, different kinds of chopped bushes, pebbles and treebark to nae some. One of the climax moment for us was when the Corpus Domini procession passed twice above our carpet blessing it, which was an honour for us
We got our inspiration from one of the stained glass windows of the Sint Romboutskatedraal of Mechelen, Belgium.
